President's Message

Hello Jackson Families,

A huge THANK YOU to Jane Vlahos and her committee and the many volunteers that made SPRING FLING so much fun on Saturday.  It was a cold and dreary day outside, but a sunny beach day inside Jackson! A special thanks to Cupcakes for Courage for donating many of the cupcakes and cookies for the Cake Walk.  And to Jewel for decorating the cookie cakes that were raffled off.

We are pleased to announce that we now have a full officer slate for next years board to present at this months PTA meeting.  Thank you to the many parents that have generously volunteered your time for next years PTA committees. We couldn’t have a PTA without you and your hard work and dedication to Jackson School!  We will be putting together the list of committee chairs this week, so please sign up here by Tuesday morning if you’d like to be considered.

Come to our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, April 24th, where  Mrs. Trendel will be providing parents with an introduction to Standards Based Reporting, which will be implemented at all district elementary schools next year. Hope to see you there.

Have a great week!

Kathy & Stacy

Top Pizza--Taste of Elmhurst

The tradition continues with this year’s seventh Top Pizza Taste of Elmhurst event on Thursday, April 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the York High School Commons. Local area restaurants and pizzerias will be showcasing their traditional, specialty varieties and gluten-free pizza pies. The $10 entrance fee allows attendees to taste the variety of vendor offerings and vote for their favorites in a variety of categories.

This is a great community fundraising event that allows families and friends to enjoy dinner and taste pizzas that are both familiar and new to them. For those students and families trying to juggle sports practices and games on a weeknight, it’s a great way to grab dinner before or after. Proceeds benefit District 205 Foundation programs that enhance education for our EC-12 schools.

For more information and to purchase entrance fee ahead, so you do not need to wait in line, visit www.elmhurst205.org/foundation_pizza.

“Choose Kindness” and help a Jackson family

Jackson Community we are asking you to “Choose Kindness” and help a family that is in desperate need. As you may have heard our Jackson family suffered a loss 2 days before Christmas when Sophia (2nd grade) and Hannah (4th grade) lost their father unexpectedly. Corinne, their mom, is now struggling to make ends meet and we would like to help now. No donation amount is too small. Thank you for generosity!
